Quasar UV/X-ray relation luminosity distances are shorter than reverberation-measured radius–luminosity relation luminosity distances

چکیده
We use measurements of 59/58 quasars (QSOs), over a redshift range $0.0041\leq z \leq 1.686$, to do comparative study the radius--luminosity ($R-L$) and X-ray$-$UV luminosity ($L_X-L_{UV}$) relations implication these for cosmological parameter estimation. By simultaneously determining $R-L$ or $L_X-L_{UV}$ relation parameters in six different models, we find that both are standardizable but provide only weak constraints, with data favoring larger current non-relativistic matter density $\Omega_{m0}$ values than most other available data. derive distances each sources models shorter as well standard flat $\Lambda$CDM model distances. This explains why QSO favor measurements. While our sample size is small spans $z$ range, results indicate more work needed determine whether can be used probe.

Rotation and the wind momentum–luminosity relation for extragalactic distances
The effects of axial stellar rotation on the wind–momentum relation (WLR) for determining the extragalactic distances are investigated. Despite the fact that the mass loss rates grow quite a lot with rotation, remarkably the effects on the WLR are found to be very small on the average. As an example, for an average orientation angle between the rotation axis and the line of sight, the luminosit...
متن کاملThe UVX quasar optical luminosity function and its evolution
The recently-finished Edinburgh UVX quasar survey at B < 18 is used together with other complete samples to estimate the shape and evolution of the optical luminosity function in the redshift range 0.3 < z < 2.2. There is a significantly higher space density of quasars at high luminosity and low redshift than previously found in the PG sample of Schmidt & Green (1983), with the result that the ...
متن کاملLuminosity-dependent Quasar Lifetimes: Reconciling the Optical and X-ray Quasar Luminosity Functions
We consider implications of our new model of quasar lifetimes and light curves for the quasar luminosity function (LF) at different frequencies and redshifts. In our picture, quasars evolve rapidly and the lifetime depends on both their instantaneous and peak luminosities. The bright end of the LF traces the peak intrinsic quasar activity, but the faint end consists of quasars which are either ...
متن کاملPeriod-Luminosity Relation for Type II Cepheids
We have estimated JHKs magnitudes corrected to mean intensity for LMC type II Cepheids found in the OGLE-III survey. Period-luminosity relations (PLRs) are derived in JHKs as well as in a reddening-free V I parameter. The BL Her stars (P < 4 d) and the W Vir stars (P = 4 to 20 d) are co-linear in these PLRs. The slopes of the infrared relations agree with those found previously for type II Ceph...
متن کاملSpectral – Luminosity relation within individual Fermi GRBs
We study the spectra of all long Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs) of known redshift detected by the Fermi satellite. Their fluxes and fluences are large enough to allow a time dependent study of their spectral characteristics in the 8 keV-1 MeV energy range. We find that the peak energy E peak of their EL(E) spectrum correlates with the luminosity in a remarkable tight way within individual bursts. This...
